High Surf Advisory and Missing Child in Laguna Beach Amid Dangerous Ocean Conditions

A high surf advisory is currently in effect along the Southern California coastline, including Catalina, the Santa Barbara Islands, the Malibu Coast, and Los Angeles County beaches.
Hazardous conditions are also impacting San Diego and Orange County coastlines through Thursday afternoon.

Why It's Important?

The hazardous ocean conditions pose a significant risk to swimmers, surfers, and beachgoers. Rip currents can pull individuals out to sea, and large breaking waves may cause injuries or wash people off rocks and beaches. Small boats near the shore are also at risk of capsizing. First responders, including lifeguards and fire departments, are on high alert, with Newport Beach lifeguards reporting 105 rescues on Tuesday alone. Authorities are urging the public to avoid entering the water and to stay off jetties and rocks to prevent accidents.
